Jay Boettner
Harrisburg, PA
Jay Boettner is by far and away the BEST and MOST knowledgeable Susquehanna River angler I have ever shared a boat with. A day on the river with this man is truly an "education". Not only that, but it will also be one of the most enjoyable experiences of your life.
Jay has grown up around boats and fishing, and has made it his career. A long-time and well-known figure in the boating industry, Jay now operates and manages Hall's Marine South, in Harrisburg, PA, where he offers new and used boat sales, boat and engine repair and service, parts and accessories and specializes in custom boat design and rigging. Their motto is "If you can dream it…we can build it!" Boat designers and manufacturers constantly seek Jay's knowledge, ideas and opinions from the world over.
Jay has begun a new type of fishing club, headquartered at Hall's Marine South (2101 East Harrisburg Pike, Rt. 230 East, Middletown, PA 17057, 717 – 944 – 2270) "The Hall's Hawg Hounds" fishing adventure club is a "fun-oriented" organization that is NOT tournament-driven. The main emphasis is on fishing, having fun and sharing fishing knowledge with other members. At each monthly meeting, local pros discuss fishing methods and techniques. And there are regularly scheduled fishing "outings". The club membership is open to the public and there is no cost.
Since moving to the shores of the Susquehanna River, right next door to his dad, seven years ago, Jay has had the opportunity to hone his river skills and knowledge. Jay has fished in every state east of the Mississippi River, and some to the west, but still finds the Susquehanna River to be the "premier Smallmouth Bass river in the country."
Jay has fished professionally in the tournament series for B.A.S.S, Red Man, Golden Blend, Renegades, ABA, SRT and NABA events. He now fishes tournaments almost exclusively on the Susquehanna River, and is definitely the "man to beat!" Jay is a member of the PA Bass Federation and founder of the "Capital City Bass Masters".
He also founded the "Good Times Guide Service", which he operates with his dad Jack Boettner, and employs some of the "top guides" in the area.
Jay operates a Lowe 180W bass boat, which he has nicknamed the "Shallow Runner", powered by a Mercury Jet Outboard, a necessity when fishing the rocky Susquehanna River.
Jay is a "fanatic" when it comes to fishing spinnerbaits, and is an "artist" with a baitcasting rod and reel. He also enjoys fishing topwater lures and is particularly fond of Cabin Creek Baits' tube lures.
In his spare time, he and his father fish the river together, and it is MUCH like a tournament event, as these two competitors match wits and skills in head-to-head competition. It is an experience to behold! If his lovely wife Judy can't find him around the office or house, she knows he has……………….."Gone Fishing!"
We are proud to have Jay Boettner as a member of the "E-Bait Express Pro Staff" and I am proud and honored to be able to call him "friend"! I am certain his knowledge and abilities will greatly enhance the projects we are involved in. Give Jay's "Good Times Fishing Guides" service and a trip to the Susquehanna River Smallmouth Bass factory a try…You will be glad you did.
